The shop was very old; the name on it's signboard was fading slowly, and it's owner's face showed some new wrinkles every day. Supported by his wooden walking stick Leo stood behind the window display and looked out with a worried expression. Nine years the last boy had stayed with him, until he had to leave town to live with his new wife. It would be difficult to replace him.
"What about this one? She looks nice," said the doll one afternoon.
"She looks a bit like you," grumbled the bear.
"And she is useless," replied the sign.
A middle-aged woman stopped in front of the shop window to look at them. She had dark black hair and green eyes edged with lines of sorrow and short nights. "That doll looks acceptable. I think I will buy her for my niece's

Here's the thing. Here I was, casually watching "Fairly Odd Parents" mock society today, and I was content with my life. Then, suddenly, SMACK BANG in the middle of it, my mother wanders in and says, "Oh no, you're not watching cartoons AGAIN? You're far too old for this now! And what is this rubbish?" She continued to rant for a while, during which I nodded, looked up at her attentively and even made notes, constantly straining to here how Crocker had captured Cosmo and Wanda this time.
Now, a lot of people in my school would laugh themselves deaf (and yes, I'm pretty sure that is physically possible) if they knew exactly what my evening viewing is once I get in from school. Half an hour of Recess, an episode of Kim Possible, followed by Fairly Odd Parents or Jackie Chan. It is my understanding that my watching cartoons coinciding with me approaching my GCSEs makes me "weird". Further on this, I've learnt that despite the fact that quite probably thousands of people here on deviantART
